Travel report: On the road at Lake Constance and the Rhine Falls

From our guest Martina

After it became clear that the originally planned bike tour for two would not work out, Martina decided without further ado to complete the short tour on Lake Constance and to the Rhine Falls alone - a good decision!

The tour was actually planned as a girls' event for two, but things often don't go as planned....

Two years ago, we cycled the tour from Constance via Lindau and Arbon and wanted to complete the tour this year with the Untersee and Rhine Falls tour. Unfortunately, my friend Katja had a family emergency, was needed at home and couldn't make the trip!

I had been soooo looking forward to the tour and decided to tackle the weekend alone despite the mixed weather forecast.

So my first solo cycling tour started in Constance and took me away from the lake to Schaffhausen in Switzerland in the sunshine. After a strenuous but totally beautiful route, I collapsed into my cozy hotel bed in the evening. On the second day, I set off on a very challenging route towards the Rhine Falls before heading back to the lake. To be honest, the signposting in Switzerland is not ideal, but with the help of the travel documents and Google Maps, the route is easy to follow with lots of great rest stops, some of which I used on my own with my book.

My hotel in Radolfzell was very close to the promenade and so I was able to enjoy the sunset by the water, wonderful! The most beautiful part of the tour is definitely the third day. There is so much to see here in terms of scenery, Lake Constance is almost always visible and you have plenty of opportunities to hop into the water, find a shady spot and read (as I did) or visit one town or another.

In short: I was able to enjoy the tour on my own and would book it again at any time, even if the next cycling tour is planned for two people again. And I'm really looking forward to that :)
Thank you!
