This short cycling break to the Rhine Falls and to Constance is specially conceived for guests who do not have a lot of free time. After your arrival you begin cycling straightaway. You explore the western side of Lake Constance and cycle through very attractive landscapes which once fascinated Otto Dix and Hermann Hesse. The volcanic mountains of the Hegau, Europe’s largest waterfall and numerous medieval villages and towns characterise this tour. If you have further to travel to reach the starting point of the trip, you can book extra nights at the start or end of the trip, so that you can enjoy a stress-free arrival and departure.
In the morning, you will be required to drop off your luggage at our office by 10:00 AM before embarking on a scenic cycle along the southern Swiss shores of Lake Constance, heading towards Stein am Rhein. Along the way, you will pass notable landmarks such as Arenenberg Castle and the Werd Monastery Island, while cycling through charming fishing villages like Gottlieben and Steckborn. Upon reaching Stein am Rhein, you will be greeted by its fresco-adorned half-timbered buildings and narrow, picturesque alleys. After a thorough exploration of the town, you will continue your journey along the Rhine making your way to Schaffhausen.
After a hearty breakfast, you will cycle the short distance of approximately 5 km downstream to the awe-inspiring Rhine Falls, just outside Schaffhausen. For a truly unforgettable experience, you can get up close to the falls by boat (included), feeling the power of the water up close. After your short cycling break at the Rhine Falls you will cycle back upstream along the Rhine to Stein am Rhein. From there, your journey continues through the scenic Höri Peninsula, once home to both Hermann Hesse and Otto Dix, to Radolfzell. Along the way, you’ll be treated to stunning views of Reichenau Island and the dramatic Hegau volcanoes.
Today, you will leave the Lower Lake behind and traverse the gentle foothills of the Bodanrück Peninsula, eventually reaching Bodman-Ludwigshafen, situated on the northwestern shores of Lake Überlingen. From here, your route leads you to Überlingen, where you can take a leisurely break along the town's charming lakeside promenade. Continuing your journey, you will pass the renowned pilgrimage church of Birnau before arriving at Uhldingen, home to the fascinating reconstructed pile dwellings, a must-see historical site. After exploring you will cycle onwards towards Meersburg here your ferry awaits.Your short cycling break to the Rhine Falls has now come full circle with your return to Constance.
