The route from Eichstätt via the Altmühltal valley to Riedenburg impresses with its natural beauty and historical sights such as Willibaldsburg Castle and Kipfenberg Castle. The section along the Main-Danube Canal to Regensburg in particular offers breathtaking views, such as Weltenburg Abbey and Prunn Castle. The highlight of the journey is the arrival in the historic city of Regensburg, which impresses with its medieval buildings and lively squares. Day 1: Day 1: Individual arrival in Eichstätt

Eichstätt, nestled in the heart of the Altmühltal Nature Park, serves as the ideal starting point for your active bike tour through the Upper Palatinate to Regensburg. This charming episcopal town, with its baroque buildings and scenic alleyways, offers plenty to explore. Highlights include the magnificent Eichstätt Cathedral and the imposing Willibaldsburg Castle. Take the opportunity to wander through the historic old town, soaking in its beauty and atmosphere, before gearing up for the exciting challenge that lies ahead.

Day 2: Day 2: Eichstätt – Riedenburg (approx. 75 km)

On the second day, you begin the longest stage of your weekend bike tour along the Altmühl Cycle Path towards Riedenburg. The route takes you through the scenic Altmühltal Valley, where you’ll be surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs and lush forests. Take a break in Kipfenberg. The city is home to Kipfenberg Castle and the Roman and Bavarian Museum, both offering fascinating insights into the region’s rich history. Continue your journey through the nature park until you’ll arrive in Riedenburg – the Pearl of the Altmühltal" Here, you’ll find the imposing Rosenburg, a medieval castle that looms majestically over the town. There is also a falconry where you can enjoy the captivating flight of birds of prey.

Day 3: Day 3: Riedenburg – Regensburg (approx. 55 km)

On the third day, you embark on the final stage of your journey to Regensburg. Cycling along the Main-Danube Canal, you'll pass through picturesque villages and admire castles such as the impressive Prunn Castle. A highlight of this stretch is Weltenburg Abbey, nestled on a dramatic bend of the Danube. Here, you can take a well-deserved break and savour the famous monastery beer. As you arrive in Regensburg, you’ll be greeted by a breathtaking view of the Stone Bridge and St. Peter's Cathedral. This UNESCO World Heritage city offers a wealth of sights, historic squares, and inviting beer gardens, providing the perfect setting to conclude both your day and your memorable weekend biking tour through the Upper Palatinate to Regensburg.
