Travel report: The Lake Constance cycle tour

From our guests Antje and Heino

Lake view

Our guests Antje and Heino opted for one of the most popular cycle tours in Europe, the Lake Constance cycle tour. At the end of summer 2018, they cycled once around Lake Constance and crossed three countries. They visited the medieval towns of Constance, Stein am Rhein, Meersburg and Schaffhausen and took a boat trip to the Rhine Falls rock.

Day 2: Constance - Kressbronn, approx. 40 km

On Tuesday, after a nice breakfast, we set off. Around 40 km had to be covered. The weather was great, pure sunshine. We rode along Lake Constance to Konstanz-Staad in a good mood. There we arrived in Meersburg by ferry, which took about 20 minutes. Meersburg is a small, cozy town. You can stroll around, shop and go to a café. There is also a castle, but we didn't visit it.

The journey continued through vineyards to Friedrichshafen. There is the Zeppelin Museum. We took a long walk along the beautiful lakeside promenade there. We continued on to Kressbronn, where we stayed at the Yachthotel Schattmaier.

Saturday is also dark and cold. But it is dry. There are only about 30 km to cover today.

After a nice breakfast, we cycle along the banks of the Rhine to Schaffhausen. A historic old town. The town was very busy. Beautiful houses with many bay windows make the town worth seeing. The Munot fortress is clearly visible.

Conclusion:

The itinerary was exceptionally beautiful. We saw a lot. The organization was simply great. The maps were superbly compiled and described. The hotels were lovely and the staff friendly. Luggage transportation went really well. A big thank you to the staff at Radweg-Reisen. We will always remember the tour. We took lots of photos, put together a photo book and made a movie. We were skeptical at the beginning because we had normal bikes. But despite some inclines, we managed everything well.
