We started on May 20, 2024 at 11.30 am with three cars from Freilassing to Kinding-Enkering to the Hotel-Gasthof Zum Bräu. When we arrived in the late afternoon, we were warmly welcomed by the manager of the hotel, who immediately explained that we could park our cars in the hotel's own parking lot for the duration of our tour, which ends on 25 May 2024.
The first impression was very positive and we were made to feel welcome. After checking in, we went to the cozy guest garden, where we enjoyed a nice cold wheat beer. There were six of us. In the evening, after dinner, there was a cozy get-together with the very friendly and funny waiters of the house, who do their job excellently, and the boss, who also masters his craft perfectly, is correspondingly good. We can recommend the hotel with a clear conscience.
Show more Show lessOn the morning of the next day, May 21, 2024, we set off in drizzling rain, but it didn't last long. To our delight, we were soon able to stow our rain gear away again. Today's destination was the Hotel Am Ellinger Tor in Weißenburg, a 500-year-old half-timbered house that was also excellent. We stayed for two nights, the breakfast buffet was very good and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our bikes could be parked in the hotel's own locked courtyard with charging facilities, so that we could visit the town with a clear conscience. As it wasn't possible to order food at the hotel in the evening, we set out to find a nice restaurant ourselves. Recommendations were the Andreasstuben, the Goldener Adler and the Schwarzer Bär. The trip to Weißenburg was characterized by beautiful scenery!
On May 22, 2024, we cycled to the Altmühlsee. We followed the Altmühltal cycle path to Gunzenhausen in the direction of Herrieden to the lake in question. The ride was very impressive and there was a lot to experience. In the evening, we fortified ourselves for the next stage with a good meal and drinks.
Show more Show lessThis will take us to Eichstätt-Wasserzell on May 23, 2024 to the Hotel Hirschenwirt. There we were given accommodation in a nearby guest house. In the evening, we were able to stop off at the restaurant for dinner. Breakfast was served in the guest house. In the evening, there was a lot of noise and fun in the pub, thanks to a group of men from Ried im Innkreis (Austria) who were also cycling and had been enjoying each other's company for years. The nice thing about cycling trips like this is that you get to meet lots of like-minded guys.
Conclusion
That was the trip report. Everyone is enthusiastic and satisfied, the weather played along despite unfavorable forecasts, but with so many happy people, the weather gods can't decide otherwise. I hope you like it.
