This was the third time we had planned our cycle tour with Radweg-Reisen, this time we were heading to the Altmühltal after two vacations at Lake Constance. Of course, once again things didn't go smoothly in the run-up, this time we had noticed the week before that one of our bikes was so damaged that we couldn't get it repaired in time for the planned start. So we had to change our plans without further ado and switch to e-bikes (which we didn't actually want, we wanted to keep the sporty aspect). Regardless of which bike we used, we were very excited to see whether the Altmühltal could keep up with Lake Constance in terms of scenery and flair!

The cycle path there is very relaxed and quiet. A little tip: in Wettelsheim there is a super tasty ice cream 😊 as a reward in between.

Lake Brombach was not far from here. It wasn't on the planned tour, but as we had the motors, we also drove there without further ado, this time through the shady forest. Another highlight of the tour is definitely Pappenheim Castle. You can even visit the torture chamber on the extensive grounds of rock ruins and wall remains.

We often didn't come across a single cyclist for hours, even though we were on vacation. The path itself is mainly in the countryside, only occasionally passing a small town. But this is a welcome change, which we gratefully accepted with coffee and ice cream.
Show more Show lessThe brochure from Radweg-Reisen was very well prepared, so we found our way around easily. The hotels were also very nice, the hosts without exception very hospitable and the Bavarian food very tasty. Even without a motor, it was an easy tour with lots of nature on offer.
We'll definitely be back, and I'm already looking forward to where we'll go next time 😊
