We arrived on Sunday from the High North and after a journey of almost seven hours, we had reached our starting point for the trip, the Hotel Ko'Ono in Litzelstetten. After checking in and settling into our rooms, we set off on the 2nd stage to collect our bikes. We took the city bus to Constance, about 10 km away. After a 4 km walk, we reached the bike station.
Here we got our rental bikes. They were adjusted again and I was also able to fit a men's saddle to my ladies' bike. After a short break in the beer garden right by the lake, we made our way back to the hotel. This took us on well-maintained cycle paths away from the main roads, but about 14 km back to the hotel.
The second day began with a very good breakfast at Hotel Ko'Ono. After packing the day's saddlebags on our bikes, we set off on the first stage from Litzelstetten to Radolfzell. On the way along the Untersee, we quickly entered Switzerland. The cycle path to the village of Stein am Rhein was one of the most beautiful sections of our 4-day tour.
After a small snack, we continued towards Radolfzell. We stopped here and there along the way and enjoyed a dip in Lake Constance. The lidos all made a very well-kept impression. However, we bathed at one of the many places in the Moos area where you can swim for free.
According to the planned route, we had planned to cover around 55 km today, but we still had to add a good 10 km from the starting point. In the end, it was enough for the first stage with approx. 66 km. The hotel today was not comparable to the one on the day of arrival. You just have to make compromises sometimes.
The second stage took us to Friedrichshafen. This section was one of the most challenging, but also the most boring in terms of the overall impression, as it took us past the main roads a lot. However, towns such as Meersburg and Friedrichshafen made up for this with their fantastic riverside promenades. The inn at the destination could not match the quality of the Ko'Ono either.
The third stage took us from Friedrichshafen to Höchst. At least according to the travel documents. But the hotel Weisses Rössli was in Staad. Again, it ended up being more kilometers than indicated, but since it never got boring on the route, as we were allowed to pass the 3 borders today, the surroundings quickly changed whether Lindau or Bregenz. There was a lot to discover. After crossing the Rhine delta, we were looking forward to the hotel. We were not disappointed. The service and accommodation in Switzerland were excellent.
The 4th stage then went from Staad back to Constance. This stage was quite monotonous, as we often passed the railroad line. But we were always far away from the busy main roads. Two short stops in Rorschach and Romannshorn were necessary, as our strength was slowly dwindling on day 4, as we managed the whole route without electronic support.

We liked it overall. Even if not all the hotels and inns were of the same standard. It was a first impression for us newcomers to Lake Constance. We will definitely be back again!
