There are several castles some ruins around Riedenburg, including Prunn Castle, one of the best-preserved knights' castles in Bavaria. In Kelheim, between the confluence of the Altmühl and the Danube, you will pass the town's landmark, the Liberation Hall on the Michelsberg. The memorial was commissioned by King Ludwig I and stands for the victorious battles against Napoleon in the Wars of Liberation. It is not only the impressive exterior façade that will catch your eye. The interior with its 34 goddesses of victory made of white Carrara marble will also impress you!

Before you continue your bike tour from the Altmühl valley nature park to the Danube do not miss a boat trip (not included) through the impressive Danube gorge to Weltenburg Abbey. It is home to the oldest monastery brewery in the world contains a wonderful beer garden. An impressive building awaits near Donaustauf – the Walhalla. It was  built by King Ludwig I - do not hesitate to climb the 358 steps. The climb is worth it you 'll have a panoramic view of the Danube and its surrounding region. Continue on to Wörth, which also offers agreat view of the Danube plain and the fertile land of the Gäuboden. Here, a castle which is its namesake, awaits you. With Straubing, you have reached the heart of the Gäuboden. Stroll through the colorful town square and admire the 68-meter-high town tower with the second largest tower clock in Germany. During a visit to the Gäuboden Museum, you can marvel at world-famous Roman treasures, unique pieces of jewelry and weapons of Bavarians.

On today's stage of your bike tour from Eichstätt to Passau you will pass the Bogenberg hill. Here the pilgrimage church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is enthroned. It is considered the oldest Marian pilgrimage church in Bavaria. Therefore the Bogenberg is also known as the Holy Mountain of Lower Bavaria. You cycle past the Benedictine abbey of Metten whose classic baroque elements are quite impressive. At Deggendorf, you've reached the gateway to the Bavarian Forest. There is plenty to explore on a tour of the Gothic and Baroque old town. For example, the popularly known Deggendorfer Knödel at the Old Town Hall. These are two stone balls connected by chains and were probably used as a medieval instrument of punishment.

Today is the last stage of your bike tour past the Altmühl Valley to the Three River City of Passau thus today you follow the Danube river to its confluence. You will pass of Bavaria's oldest Benedictine monasteries at Niederalteich. At the confluence of the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers, you have reached the destination of your bike tour Passau. Stroll through the narrow streets of the old town and visit the world's largest cathedral organ at St. Stephen's Cathedral. We also recommend a boat trip along the rivers.
