Our bike tour around València is an exciting cycle tour that takes you to sun-drenched Mediterranean beaches and beautiful places in the Spanish interior. You start in València. As the vibrant capital of the province of the same name, València is the ideal starting point for a cycling vacation that you will remember for a long time to come. After a detour to the Albufera Nature Park and the slightly hilly hinterland around Mora de Rubielos and the thermal town of Montanejos, you cycle back to the Mediterranean to Castellón de la Plana. Along the Costa del Azahar – the coast of orange blossom – you cycle around València to the picture-book town of Peñíscola. Make sure you take your swimsuit with you! Along the Costa del Azahar, you will find countless sandy beaches and bays that invite you to relax in the sun and take a dip in the cool waters of the Mediterranean.
You will not be disappointed with the culinary delights on our bike tour around València either. The region around the port city is known as the home of paella. Try the different variations of the national dish of the Spanish east coast. Or how about a freshly squeezed glass of juice made from Valencian oranges? Their cultivation has a long tradition and offers even more of that Mediterranean vacation feeling, sip for sip.
Welcome to the east coast of Spain! Your bike tour around València begins in the country's third largest city. Located directly on the Mediterranean, the city has a lot to offer in addition to its three beaches. Founded by the Romans, València once developed into a European trading power. Today, the city impresses with many historic buildings and a lively cultural scene. In the evening, enjoy the paella, a rice dish that is prepared in many variations and is typical of Valencian cuisine.
You will receive your bikes in the morning. Let's get going! Your first stage takes you to the Parc Natural de l'Albufera de València nature park. It is named after a lake in its center and has a diverse flora and fauna that can be observed all year round. If you're drawn to the sea along the way, no problem. Between València and the nature park you will find several beaches that are ideal for sun worshippers and water lovers. Back in València, you have another opportunity to explore the city.
Today you will travel inland to Barracas by transfer (included). There you hop on your bike and reach the Sierra de Gúdar. Mora de Rubielos, your destination for the day, lies in the middle of the mountain range, which reaches up to 2000 meters. The townscape of this charming little town is dominated by the mighty castle. It was built in the 13th century. The Gothic-style church of Santa María is also worth a visit.
You cycle along winding roads lined with trees and hills on the third stage of your bike tour around València to Montanejos. On the way, you will pass the Arenós reservoir. Built in the 1970s, it covers the former municipality of Campos de Arenoso, which had to make way for the construction. Your destination for the day, Montanejos, is known nationwide for its thermal springs. The thermal water is said to have a healing and cleansing effect – try it out!
You cycle through the beautiful river valley of the Río Mijares and reach Onda. Explore the town, which looks back on a long tradition of ceramic production, before you are taken to El Grao de Castellón by transfer (included). As part of the port city of Castellón de la Plana, the port district has a lot to offer. Enjoy your time on one of the beaches and treat yourself to freshly prepared seafood specialties in one of the many restaurants in the evening.
On small coastal roads and with a view of the Costa del Azahar, which translates as coast of the orange blossom, you cycle around València to Alcossebre today. It's worth taking your swimsuit with you, as there are plenty of opportunities for a spontaneous dip in the sea along the way. The beaches and the bays separated by rock formations in Alcossebre are also well worth a visit.
The shortest stage of your bike tour around València takes you all the way through the Sierra de Irta nature park. You reach Peñíscola, your destination. The historic old town is located on an imposing rock that rises around 65 meters out of the sea like the proverbial rock in the surf. Visit the castle there and the extensive sandy beaches to the north of the town. Enjoy your last evening in the Mediterranean before setting off on your journey home tomorrow.
