Bike Tour from Bruges to Amsterdam

Bruges, also known as Venice of the North, is the most important art and museum city in Belgium. Your bike tour begins with a varied stage through green grassland and wide wet meadows. First you cycle to the small, charming town of Damme. A short time later, you cross the border into the Netherlands. You cycle through Zeelandic Flanders before a ferry (not included) finally takes you to your destination of Vlissingen. The sunset looks particularly beautiful on the beach.

In Middelburg, you have reached the capital of the province of Zeeland. Take a look at the Stadhuis, one of the most important Gothic town halls in the Netherlands. The municipality of Veere was heavily influenced by trade with Scotland. Follow in the footsteps of the Scottish community as you stroll through this charming little town. Finally, you cycle via Zierikzee to Schuddebeurs.

Beautiful sandy beaches line the Island of Schouwen-Duiveland. You cross the mosaic-like landscape of polders, dunes and sandbanks before cycling back to the mainland. The town center of the small fortified town of Willemstad is home to numerous well-restored buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries. The town center forms a seven-pointed star that is surrounded by water all around.

Just a stone's throw from Willemstad, you cross the Hollands Diep and soon reach De Biesbosch National Park. This natural paradise is characterized by small rivers and streams and is one of the few freshwater tidal areas in the world. Hundreds of bird species breed in the labyrinth of streams and islands. After enjoying pure nature, you cycle to the lively city of Dordrecht. More than 1,000 monuments give one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands a very special charm.

On today's stage of your bike tour from Bruges to Amsterdam, make a stopover at the most famous windmills in the Netherlands. A total of 19 of them stand side by side near Kinderdijk. They were built in the 18th century and were once used to pump water from the surrounding polders. The route continues to Gouda. The town is not only famous for the cheese of the same name, but also for Stroopwafels, which were invented here. The round pastry waffles with a caramel filling make an excellent souvenir.

You cycle through the Green Heart towards your destination. A special cultural and historical landscape with rivers, wide polders, lakes and moorland spreads out around you. You cycle past lakes, canals and many small villages to the capital of the Netherlands. The sights of the port city are so numerous that it is difficult to decide where to start your sightseeing.
