The first section of this cycling tour around the lakes in Bavaria takes you through Forstenried Park to the renowned Lake Starnberg. As you ride along, you'll be surrounded by charming villages, elegant villas, and majestic castles that adorn the shores of this picturesque lake—truly a scene straight out of a storybook! As you cycle past Riegsee Lake, you'll arrive in Murnau and the expansive Murnau Moos, an ancient moorland rich in biodiversity. The numerous watercourses and lakes here provide a stunning backdrop against the majestic Alpine panorama, showcasing an incredible variety of flora and fauna. This enchanting landscape inspired many Expressionist artists, including Kandinsky, who referred to it as the "Blue Country." In Murnau, you can explore the artists' works in one of the local museums, further immersing yourself in the region's artistic heritage.

Day 4: Murnau am Staffelsee – Bad Tölz, approx. 50 km

Today’s route leads you to the enchanting Kochelsee Lake, where the crystal-clear waters shimmer peacefully against the backdrop of the majestic Alps. Enjoy a leisurely ride as you continue on to the renowned monastic village of Benediktbeuren. The expansive baroque monastery here once served as the spiritual and cultural hub of Upper Bavaria. Soon, you'll arrive in Bad Tölz, where the vibrant, painted houses offer a glimpse into the town's prosperous history as a thriving trade center.
