With the Hotel "Münchener Hof" we had a nice old town hotel in the heart of Regensburg. Very friendly staff, I would like to emphasize the gentleman at the reception. You can tell his job is his calling! Very nice route to Weltenburg. Good paths, very well signposted. The boat trip on the Danube breakthrough was a nice change of pace.
We would have loved to go to the beer garden in Weltenburg, but with great weather on a Sunday, no chance. There was an estimated 150-meter queue at the entrance. But we found a nice pub in the village, almost private in character, where only the locals were - hearty food just like at home. The path to Bad Gögging was no longer so good and was muddy in places due to all the rain in August. But no matter. In Abensberg we had a great hotel, the Altstadthotel Kneitinger. The town is well worth a visit.
Another great tour today in beautiful weather. Vohburg as a stop is highly recommended, very nice town.
In Ingolstadt, I was glad to have my app to find my way around the city. The drive to Grünau Castle and the castle itself was also a highlight. The Hotel-Gasthof "Bergbauer" in Neuburg is very basic, but okay for one night.
The 3rd day was the best so far in terms of the route, the landscape and the variety. This means grade 1, the other days had a grade 2 and therefore only a slight drop.
The Donautrockental and then the Altmühltal are special. The "Hirschenwirt" hotel in Eichstätt was good and the cuisine is highly recommended.
Day 4 and I wonder where the time has gone. Another beautiful section of the tour, but a bit hillier this time. But no problem (PS: I'm riding without an electric motor).
What is striking is that the villages and small towns are very well-kept and the houses almost always look great, meaning the older buildings that have been renovated. The "Fuchsbräu Hotel" in Beilngries is of a very good standard. However, we had experienced the warmth of the staff better on the tour. There is room for improvement here. Small correction, at breakfast the expected Bavarian cordiality came through again.
What can I say, simply beautiful, especially as we had great weather the whole day and that was the icing on the cake for the tour. From Riedenburg we continued by boat to Kelheim and soon the Danube reappeared and we cycled back the same way we had cycled on day 1.
In the early evening, we stopped off at a beer garden, enjoyed the time until dark and drove to the hotel, where the friendly gentleman at reception was already waiting for us.
