Travel report: The Rhine Valley cycle path: Constance - Strasbourg

After positive previous experiences with cycle path trips last year, this year we chose the Rhine Valley Cycle Path, which took us via Constance to Strasbourg and Offenburg in ten days in July and August 2021. To anticipate, no breakdowns, no accidents, everything perfectly organized, the luggage in the hotel on time, the organizer can't help the weather and also not for the not always easy finding of the way out of Basel, up to Nonnenweiler and into the center of Freiburg.
Show more Show lessDespite the great and centrally located "ABC Hotel" in Constance, the weather forecast meant that we set off with somewhat dubious faces at first and the journey often took us along the Rhine, which was raging due to high water, through vineyards, small villages and towns, peppered with all kinds of sights, up via Freiburg to France, to wonderful Strasbourg with its cathedral, which shone in a light installation in the evening.
The vacation was a beautiful and intense father-son time, a journey into wine culture, the Middle Ages, along romantic Rhine towns and to sublime churches, but the special thing about this vacation was that it was possible on a unicycle.
With 36 inches and a maximum speed of 30.7 km/h (measured just before Breisach), luggage-free and carefree, we also passed the unique corkscrew museum.
In sun and rain, always close to nature to extraordinary places.
Good clothes, a hairdryer and a hot shower in the hotel help against the rain, even for the unicycle.
It wasn't too strenuous, a form of vacation that we like. Probably again soon ...
