On July 25, 2021, we arrived with our car in Schwäbisch Hall at the "Goldener Adler" inn. The inn was located directly on the market square in the old town, where we were greeted by the magnificent backdrop of the festival. We parked our car safely in a parking garage as we had chosen a round trip. We had our bikes with us, as they were always safely stored at all our accommodation.
Show more Show lessThe first stage took us from Hall (as the locals call their town) out into the peaceful countryside under the huge Kochertal bridge to the Hohenlohe cycle path. There we overcame a few climbs and experienced some wonderful descents. Langenburg Castle was enthroned to our right.
The natural surroundings brought a magical calm right from the start. The smaller villages exuded a sense of coziness and we only encountered a few cyclists. Insider tip was really true!
We had reached our 2nd overnight destination in Mulfingen, OT Heimhausen. The "Jagstmühle" country inn was nestled in the beautiful Jagst valley, surrounded by the gentle sound of the Jagst.
After a lovingly prepared, leisurely breakfast, we set off on the second stage in the sunshine. We called this section the "Path of Silence". Forests, meadows and tranquillity alternated. This beautiful, completely asphalted cycle path is highly recommended. Schönau Monastery, where Götz von Berlichingen found his resting place, is a cultural insider tip and the castle café is a culinary delight.
The 3rd stage took us towards Neckarsulm, partly along the Limes cycle path to the mouth of the Kocher into the Neckar. We made a detour to Bad Wimpfen to take a look at the beautiful town center. Then we cycled past the huge Audi plant into the town. There, locals recommended that we stop for a bite to eat at the Besenwirtschaft. Full and tired, we checked into the "Nestor Hotel".
The next morning, we headed back towards Braunsbach, past the mouth of the Kocher to the Jagst River. Relaxing landscapes and traces of Götz von Berlichingen behind every bend in the river. We spent the night at the "Krone" country inn for a second time, as we were now heading back.
Our last stage between the twin rivers was uphill and downhill. We saw the huge Kochertal bridge again and felt a little wistful on our last few kilometers, but only briefly. The next tour starts in September, of course booked through Radweg-Reisen, so we can rely on everything and the vacation starts relaxed with the first few kilometers of cycling.
