From our guests Gabi & Thomas

On September 20, 2020, after an 11-hour drive, we finally arrived in Lübeck. The Hotel 4-Jahreszeiten is great, the welcome was very warm. We have a great room on the 5th floor - here with a view of the city

Day 1 of our cycle tour takes us to Travemünde in bright sunshine, where we take the ferry across the Trave towards Boltenhagen. We take a break from cycling - with a view of the 4-master Passat, continue along the Baltic Sea and linger again and again, because the views of the Baltic Sea are simply too beautiful.

But then the first shock, about 18 km before Boltenhagen my rear tire is flat. But we get help from a nice couple from Hesse and so we arrive safely at the Hotel Gutshaus Redewisch. What a beautiful house with very, very tasty food and it's also very nice all round.

Day 2 takes us to Wismar, but first we buy and fit a new inner tube in Boltenhagen. Next time we will definitely take a replacement with us.

In Boltenhagen, a visit to the pier is a must and we take breaks to enjoy the Baltic Sea, as the weather is simply outrageously good. We are also very impressed by Wismar, a beautiful old town with so much to see. Our Vienna House hotel is in the center, so we can explore the surrounding area on foot. In the evening, we sit at the harbor and enjoy a delicious meal at an Italian restaurant.

Day 3 Before we set off for Schwerin, the Hotel Vienna House gives us 2 bottles of mineral water for the tour, a nice gesture that makes us very happy.

Then I make a mistake, I miss the specified route and we come to Lübstorf via Bad Kleinen and Wiligrad Castle, an adventurous tour that also takes us along lonely forest paths, but we reach our destination, the Pfaffenweiher in Schwerin with the Hotel Niederländischer Hof, and we are thrilled.

Wow, another great address and we get talking to a very nice hotel employee who not only conjures up a delicious Aperol for us at the bar in the evening, but she also gives us an insider tip about a restaurant beforehand where we can also enjoy a delicious meal.

Day 4 belongs to Schwerin. Schwerin in general, the absolute highlight of the trip for us. What a fantastically beautiful city. We couldn't stop looking and marveling. The boat trip across the Schwerin lakes was also an experience because of the sunny weather. We then decided to take a tour of the city on the tourist bus, which was also very informative.

So many impressions, with the beautiful castle and the many beautifully restored old houses, we certainly weren't in this beautiful city for the last time. We then had a coffee on the pier and a meal in a traditional brewery in the evening. A successful conclusion.

Day 5 Farewell to Schwerin and onward journey to Ratzeburg. The weather is much cooler today and we realize that we are not in such good physical shape. But the longer we pedal, the better it goes, then it gets sunnier and we take a break in Gadebusch.

The scenery is also very varied and we come to the historical part, where we see the old border line on display boards and read about what happened to the people and their homes back then. Moments to pause and be grateful. We arrive at Wittler's Hotel in Ratzeburg via Schlagbrügge and Bäk. As we are pretty exhausted, we eat at the hotel and don't see much more of Ratzeburg.

Day 6 and we have reached the last day of our tour. So back to Lübeck. We set off via Lübecker Damm to Einhaus and the weather was sad and gray.

At first we pass through varied landscapes, we have a bit of everything, waterways, forests and then open terrain, we can hear the greylag geese even before we see them in the fields. Autumn is on its way. We cycle via Klempan to Krummesse on the riverside path of the Elbe-Lübeck Canal back to the city of Lübeck.

Shortly before we reach our destination, the Hotel 4 Jahreszeiten, my heart calls out: "I have a flat tire!!!" We both had to laugh, that's how each of us got it. As soon as we arrived, pushing the last few meters, it started to rain. However, we had successfully completed our tour and then walked to a nice little restaurant in the harbor in the evening with a large umbrella for a fish dinner.

Farewell to Lübeck the next morning, even the sky is sad and gray. What a wonderful bike tour we had, we saw a lot, met very friendly and helpful people and are proud of our achievement, as we are both 65 years old and managed the tour without an "e-bike" using pure muscle power.

Our conclusion: It is our 3rd cycle tour with Radweg-Reisen and each one was wonderful, the hotels were great everywhere and we enjoyed it very much.
We will be setting off on new adventures with Radweg-Reisen again, perhaps by boat and bike. Come time...come bike!

Best regards Gabi and Thomas
