Travel report: Short bike tour around Lake Constance

From our guest Helmut

Exactly four days for a bike tour around Lake Constance? Too short - we thought. But maybe we could. And then we found the offer from RADWEG-REISEN on the internet - just the right thing in terms of time.

Helmut reports on his short but very rewarding cycle tour around Lake Constance. He cycled from Constance via Meersburg, Friedrichshafen, Lindau, Bregenz and Arbon with some interesting stops in three countries once around the lake. Once around in three stages, there is a lot to tell!

Journey to Constance

We didn't want to ride the 500 km journey to Constance with two bikes on the pannier rack. So we decided to hire bikes. We booked everything, including the extra night in Constance.
A few days later, the travel documents arrived by post. All the information you need - very clearly laid out.

On arrival in Constance our destination, RADWEG-REISEN, was quickly found and we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful member of staff. The bikes were already ready, even the saddle height was already set and we were able to park our car nearby in a locked parking lot.

Then the first stretch to the hotel. Located in the middle of the city, we were warmly welcomed at the Hotel Barbarossa. Everything was already prepared and very uncomplicated.

Day 1: Constance - Lindau, approx. 50 km

After a hearty breakfast, we then took the ferry to Meersburg. We explored the beautiful old town, which was still not very crowded with tourists at this time of year - and of course we also visited the Droste-Hülshoff House. What a view of Lake Constance! No wonder the poet felt so at home here.

Our next destination was Friedrichshafen. There we took a longer break with a snack on the promenade and of course visited the extremely interesting Zeppelin Museum.

Then we continued through the beautiful countryside. There we discovered Montfort Castle in Langenargen from the 19th century. Climbing the tower was well worth it. We enjoyed the view over Lake Constance.

The route then led us along the lake to Lindau. A great room with a view of the harbor awaited us and our luggage was already waiting for us at reception. So we were able to enjoy the evening without a care in the world.

Day 2: Lindau - Arbon, approx. 55 km

The next morning, again after a good breakfast, we set off. Past the lake stage in Bregenz to Altenrhein. It's hard to believe what a beautiful Hundertwasser building awaited us here! The stay is well worth it.

Always along the lake, we reached our next accommodation, the Hotel Wunderbar in Arbon. An industrial building converted into a hotel with a lot of charm. We then ate some of the Swiss delicacies on offer on the terrace overlooking the lake.

And a surprise awaited us: knitted art on the tree.

Day 3: Arbon - Constance, approx. 45 km

The next day was unfortunately our last. Our destination was Konstanz - and we enjoyed the wonderful cycle path once again.

All in all, a very successful tour with the best organization!
