Travel report: The easy Obersee cycle tour

From our guests Volker, Nicole, Heribert and Ullrich

On their cycle tour around the Obersee, our guests Volker, Nicole, Heribert and Ullrich discovered the most famous towns on Lake Constance. Always close to the shore and with a panoramic view of the Alps, the route takes them to Constance, Meersburg, Friedrichshafen, Lindau, Bregenz and Arbon. They opted for a trip tailored to them and cycled around the beautiful Obersee in five stages.

Day 1: Meersburg - Friedrichshafen

Drive by car from the Palatinate to Friedrichshafen to the Gasthof Rebstock (305 km).

Drop off your luggage. Fortunately, the rooms were already ready at 11.18 am. Many thanks to the Rebstock team.
Due to the bad weather, the trip by car (bikes on the roof) did not go as planned to Constance, but only to Meersburg. Start in Meersburg in the rain with the bikes.
Coffee and cake stop at Ristorante-Pizzeria Schiff in Immenstaad: very tasty selection of cakes, including dry cakes.

Arrival at Gasthof Rebstock, Friedrichshafen. Unfortunately there is only a carport to store the bikes.
Aperol Spritz and beer at Al Porto, Friedrichshafen. Dinner at Lukullum, Friedrichshafen (highly recommended).
And legendary: Bernd's Bar Lounge - Restaurant - Club: By the way, the large champagne bottle holds 15 liters and if you need to go fast, don't go to Bernd's, but to McDonald's.

Day 2: Friedrichshafen - Lindau

Start in Friedrichshafen: Due to the bad weather, we stopped at the Ulmer bakery in Langenargen to watch the communion procession.
Beware, even if you only drink coffee, you can get tea poisoning!!!

Drive to the Hotel Nagel in Lindau. There is a separate bike room on the opposite side, very exclusive.
Great rooms, barrel sauna on the roof, nice staff (lent us their private umbrellas) Thanks Kim!

Beer board at Melo's

Next stop for tea at the Theater Café Lindau. Dinner at the Greek restaurant: The Greek restaurant in Langenweg is highly recommended.
A nightcap with friends at Hotel-Restaurant Melo's. Although the hotel was actually closed, Kim served us very courteously. We would love to come back.

Day 3: Lindau - Staad

Early start in Lindau to reach the Pfänderbahn in Bregenz before 10.00 a.m.
Bikes are free until 10.00 a.m., after that it costs €6.60 per bike. So only €7.70 per person.
10.00 a.m. Ascent with the Pfänderbahn: Unfortunately, visibility on the Pfänder is poor today. Apart from us, no one else is on the bike. We highly recommend the descent to Lochau (length: 10.5 km, duration: 30 min.).

From Lochau on to the shores of Lake Constance and back to Bregenz. Great roadside estates.
Visit the set of Rigoletto (Bregenz Festival). Stop off at the Gasthaus Waldheim in Hard in Austria. Today in use "Model Globus" on the feet.
Arrival at the Hotel Weisses Rössli in Staad. Exclusive lockable bicycle parking space in the double garage.
Ride to Rorschach by train (day ticket per person CHF 6.40)

Cafébar and Longe Marktplätzli: Very friendly staff. Once again warm or hot drinks such as cappuccino, tea or even iced coffee for everyone.
Dinner at Stars and Stripes (American Bar & Restaurant) burgers galore for everyone.
Absacker traditionally at the Hotel Weisses Rössli
