The East Frisian Beer Tour

Day 1: Individual arrival in Oldenburg

The gateway to East Frisia, the old royal seat of Oldenburg is the ideal starting point for your East Frisian beer tour. If you arrive early, you will have enough time to visit the charming old town. At its center you'll find a magnificent castle. Its guardhouse once marked the boundary to the city's bourgeois areas. Not far from here you'll find the Powder Tower which is the last remaining building of the city's former fortifications. There are numerous stores and restaurants around in the city center so nothing bars the way for a relaxed evening.

Day 2: Oldenburg – Großefehn, approx. 60 km

Leave the city behind and cycle to Ammerland. On flat paths, you cycle past the so-called Zwischenahner Meer through lush green pastures. You will pass historic fen settlements still preserved to this day. Enjoy the view of canals, locks, bascule bridges and windmills. At the beer village of Bagband you will tour the Ostfriesen brewery and learn about the brewing process during a guided tour. Of course you will also be well provided with food and a drink. Energized and invigorated, you will cover the last few kilometers to your stage destination, Großefehn.

It's tea time in East Frisia four times a day, giving you the opportunity to try the real East Frisian blend in a teahouse. Pass through the old chieftain town of Aurich and the seaside resort of Esens. You can already smell the salty scent of the North Sea. Sit down on a cozy beach chair and enjoy the view of the Wadden Sea.
