The cycling tour along the Weser is for trained cyclists who are not afraid of longer stages and still value sightseeing. You start your bike tour where the Weser has its origin. In Hann. Münden, the Werra and Fulda rivers flow into each other and merge into one of the most important rivers in Germany, the Weser. You cycle along the mountain ranges of the Weserbergland and reach the vast land of the North German Plain at Porta Westfalica. Yours is Germany‘s smallest state and the former Hanseatic city of the same name, Bremen. What makes a bike tour along the Weser so special? These are the excellently developed bike paths through idyllic and tranquil nature, sleepy villages with breathtakingly beautiful marketplaces, magnificent manor houses and castles. The architectural styles from Romanesque to Gothic to the important keyword of the so-called Weser Renaissance will accompany you during the entire bike tour along the Weser.

Day 2: Hann. Münden – Holzminden, approx. 80 km

The first stage of your bike tour along the Weser River is about to begin. As you follow the river's winding path, you'll be enchanted by fairytale castles and grand palaces. To your right, the foothills of northern Germany's second largest contiguous forest mountain range rise majestically, while the red sandstone cliffs of Hanover radiate a warm glow. Don't miss Corvey Monastery near Höxter, founded by a son of Charlemagne in 822, which is a remarkable historical site worth visiting.
Continuing on, you'll reach Holzminden, renowned as the "city of scents and flavors." In the late 19th century, this town became notable for being one of the first places to synthesize vanillin, adding to its rich cultural tapestry. As you continue, you'll notice a significant change in the landscape; the rolling hills and dense forests give way to expansive marsh and geest landscapes. Afterward, you'll spend the night in Verden an der Aller, situated just before the river flows into the Weser. The old town is adorned with delightful half-timbered structures, offering a picturesque atmosphere. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the cathedral, originally a wooden church during Charlemagne's era, which now stands as a stunning three-nave Gothic hall church.
