Cycling tour in North Sardinia

Day 1: Individual arrival in Cannigione

The former fishing village of Cannigione is now renowned for its vibrant marina. After checking in at your hotel, take a short walk to the beautiful beach just north of the village to unwind and enjoy the coastal views. If time permits, hop back on your bike and explore the peaceful hinterland, where serene scrub forests and striking granite rock formations offer a tranquil escape.

Day 2: Round trip at the Costa Smeralda, approx. 55 km

On the first day of your cycling tour in North Sardinia, you'll explore the stunning Costa Smeralda, cycling through the picturesque hills of San Pantaleo. This charming mountain village, nestled among jagged granite peaks, is known for its quaint, flat-roofed houses in the old town. On your return, you'll pass through Porto Cervo, a hotspot for the international jet set. The route then winds through windswept landscapes with striking granite rock formations, leading you back to Cannigione.

Day 3: Excursion to La Maddalena, approx. 60 km + ferry ride

Today, you'll take the ferry (not included) to the La Maddalena Archipelago, a stunning nature park known for its breathtaking beauty. After disembarking, you'll cycle along a scenic panoramic road to reach the vibrant town of La Maddalena. The islands are often regarded as some of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean, with seas that shift between soft greens and vibrant blues. The shallow waters are teeming with starfish, anemones, and corals, while the land is rich with the aromatic scents of wild herbs, laurel, and myrtle.

Day 4: Cannigione - Tempio Pausania, approx. 50 km

Today’s cycle tour takes you inland, away from the coast and into Sardinia’s rugged hinterland. You’ll begin todays journey passing through Arzachena. It used to be a pastoral village which has now evolved into a modern town. Continue cycling through a landscape dotted with granite rocks and cork oak forests, heading towards Sant'Antonio di Gallura. Take time to explore the historic town center. Then continue through scenic forests, meadows, and fields toward your destination for the day Tempio Pausania.

Day 5: Tempio Pausania - Castelsardo, approx. 50 km

Tempio Pausania, a charming town perched on a high plateau in Gallura, welcomes you with its narrow streets and historic town center. Take some time to wander through this picturesque town before continuing your journey. Today's route takes you through the Valle del Luna, or "Valley of the Moon," where dramatic granite boulders create striking rock formations. As you cycle toward the coast, the scent of the sea will soon greet you, with your destination—Castelsardo—just ahead. Once in this coastal town, enjoy the stunning sunset from the historic old town, offering breathtaking views over the sea.

Day 6: Castelsardo - Sassari, approx. 55 km

Castelsardo lies high above the sea on a rock. From here you cycle back inland. Enjoy the spectacular view of the Anglona with its many hills and pastureland. Cycle through the beautiful countryside to your overnight stay in Sassari. Let yourself be carried away by the big city flair of Sardinia's second largest city, where tradition and modernity combine perfectly.

Day 7: Sassari - Alghero, approx. 40 km

Today marks the final stage of your cycling tour in North Sardinia, as you ride through peaceful, scenic paths toward Alghero. Beautifully perched on a small headland and surrounded by water on three sides, Alghero is often considered the most charming town on the island. Once you arrive, take your time to explore the historic old town, with its thick defensive walls and quaint town center. Enjoy a leisurely coffee in one of the local cafés, reflecting on the many unforgettable experiences from your cycling adventure.

Day 8: Individual departure
