Swiftly from northern Germany to the capital of Denmark – the cycle tour from Hamburg to Copenhagen makes it possible! Enjoy the maritime flair in the Hanseatic city of Hamburg, which you will experience again and again over the coming days. Cycle along the Elbe to the Kiel Canal. Side by side with large and small ships, you will follow the approximately 100-kilometre-long canal as far as Kiel. Inland, you will get to know Holstein Switzerland, characterized by lakes, meadows and forests, before heading to Heiligenhafen. You then cycle across the island of Fehmarn, from where you take the ferry to the Danish island of Lolland. The cycle tour continues from Hamburg to Copenhagen to the islands of Falster, Bogø and Møn. On Møn, you will get to know the chalk cliffs of Møns Klint on an excursion – very impressive. Continue to the island of Zealand. With a view of Køge Bugt and the Öresund, you will cycle to Copenhagen.

Cycle around the harbor, the Speicherstadt warehouse district and the Michel. If you want to give your calves a rest for the coming days, we recommend a harbor tour – ideal for getting to know the city from the water. And to round off the day: a delicious fish sandwich!
You leave Hamburg behind you. Cycle along the Elbe past the ship's welcome facility in Wedel and reach Glückstadt. The town, which was built on the drawing board, is famous for its Glückstädter Matjes, a culinary specialty. The route continues to Brunsbüttel. This is where the Kiel Canal begins. It went into operation in 1895 and has been one of the busiest waterways in the world ever since. A few kilometers inland you cycle through the Dithmarschen. In St. Michaelisdonn you will come across the Dutch windmill Edda. You will spend the night in Brunsbüttel or St. Michaelisdonn.
Today's stage of your cycle tour from Hamburg to Copenhagen takes you along the Kiel Canal. With numerous large and small ships in view, you pass numerous high bridges and ferry docks. After a good two thirds of the route, you will reach Rendsburg. Time for a break! Take a stroll through the historic old town and treat yourself to a trip across the canal on the floating ferry before continuing on to Kiel. Relax in Kiel on Falckensteiner Strand beach or enjoy maritime dishes in the numerous restaurants at the end of the day.
On the Kiel Fjord, you first take a ferry to Laboe. The route takes you through a gently undulating landscape characterized by lakes to Holstein Switzerland. Treat yourself to a refreshing dip in Lake Lank and pay a brief visit to the castle in Plön. After a lunch break in the cozy old town of Eutin, cycle via Oldenburg in Holstein to your destination for the day, Heiligenhafen. Enjoy the evening hours on the beaches, watch the numerous surfers and take a stroll along the pier promenade.
From Heiligenhafen, your cycle tour from Hamburg to Copenhagen first takes you to the island of Fehmarn. You reach the sunshine island via the Fehmarnsund Bridge. Take a coffee break in Burg, the island's main town, before taking the ferry from the landing stage in Puttgarden to Rødby on the Danish island of Lolland. You cycle to the small town of Maribo and Søndersø without any significant inclines. A few kilometers to the north you reach the small harbour town of Bandholm. Spend the night in Maribo or Bandholm.
You cycle on flat cycle paths across the Guldborg Sound to the island of Falster. First you reach Nykøbing Falster. Colorful little houses, the water tower and the monastery church characterize the image of the harbor town. Continue towards the Baltic Sea! In the vacation resort of Marielyst, you will come across one of the most beautiful beaches in Denmark. You can collect shells to your heart's content, plunge into the sea or simply enjoy the sun on the 15-kilometre-long, fine sandy beach. You can stay overnight in Nykøbing Falster or in Marielyst.
First you cycle to the north of the island of Falster. Enjoy wonderful views of the sea along the coast and take a break on the beach if you feel like it. A stopover in Hesnæs is also worthwhile. The houses in the fishing village are wrapped in straw – unique in Denmark. Take the ferry from Stubbekøbing to the island of Bogø. Leaving the small island quickly behind you, you are now on your way to the island of Møn. The unique nature and wild originality of Møn will inspire you. You will reach your destination for the day at Stege.
Today's day on the bike is all about exploring Møn and the famous chalk cliffs in the east of the island. The chalk cliffs of Møns Klint rise 128 meters above sea level. This striking landscape is known for its breathtaking beauty and attracts both nature lovers and geology enthusiasts. The cliffs stretch for around 6 kilometers along the coast and offer spectacular views of the Baltic Sea. At the GeoCenter Møns Klint, you can learn more about the formation of Denmark and the cliffs.
From Møn, you cycle briskly to Zealand, the largest island in the Baltic Sea and Denmark. Today's stage of your cycle tour from Hamburg to Copenhagen is characterized by slight inclines. After passing the pretty little town of Præstø and the idyllic Præstø Fjord, you cycle to Faxe Ladeplads. The kilometer-long beach is ideal for a refreshing break before you approach your stage destination of Rødvig. Pay a visit to the flint kiln at the harbor. The town's landmark was once used to turn flint into powder for faience glazing.
Just a stone's throw from Rødvig, you will get to know Stevns Klint. The cliff, which is around 15 kilometers long, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the Stevns Klint Experience visitor center, you can learn more about the formation of the cliff. Continue to the charming harbor town of Køge. From here, you have the option of shortening the route to Copenhagen by train. Denmark's cozy capital Copenhagen offers you a colourful mix of historic and modern buildings, numerous restaurants and not to forget: an excellently developed cycle path system!
