The centre based tour Constance is ideal for anyone who doesn’t want to pack their bags every day or commit to specific stages in advance. From your hotel in Constance where you will be based for your entire holiday, you will go on a different excursion every day. Thanks to many trips on the ships of the White Fleet, you will get to know the whole Lake Constance region – you definitely won’t get bored! Say hello to the 6-metre tall lion statue in Lindau’s harbour, explore the sleepy ruins and gardens of Salem Castle and experience the vibrant colours of the flower island of Mainau. It will be up to you to decide how you want to spend each individual day of your bicycle holiday.
You move to your hotel in Constance, a city which still holds on to its a medieval atmosphere even to this day. In 1414, the city was the stage for the only church council north of the Alps. A small museum commemorates the Czech reformer Jan Hus, who was burned in Constance. The town's landmark is the statue of Imperia, a monument to the prostitutes who accompanied the Council. Explore the ancient history at the National Archaeological Museum or the aquariums of the Sea Life Center at the harbour.
Today's bike tour lead you along the Lake Constance via Friedrichshafen to Langenargen exploring the upper Lake region. Pretty little villages such as Wasserburg and Nonnenhorn are located at its shore and offer plenty of opportunities to take a break at beer gardens or on the beach. The stage destination is Lindau, the Bavarian "metropolis on the lake". The historic old town on its own peninsula is a popular destination for visitors. In the afternoon, take the scheduled boat back to Constance.
You have the whole day at your disposal to visit the flower Island Mainau (admission not included). It is one of the most sought after attraction at the Lake Constance. The mild climate here supports the growth of its vegetation you will even find palm trees here. Depending on the season, a wide variety of plants bloom on the island. The season starts in spring with the blossoming of thousands of tulips and hyacinths. Then the rhododendrons are in full bloom. In September and October, around 30,000 roses bloom competing with the dahlia bushes.
At first, you will cross the Lake Constance by boat takes leaving from Wallhausen to Überlingen. From here you will follow the Lake Constance bike path to the Birnau pilgrimage church. Enjoy the fantastic view over Lake Constance. Then follow the Prelate's Path to Salem. Its castle build by the former monastic order is an impressive example of southern German baroque architecture. Take a detour to the Affenberg (not included), where over 200 semi-wild monkeys roam. Then cycle onwards to the medieval town of Meersburg, which boasts an old and a new castle. From here take the ferry across the lake back to Constance.
Todays bike tour circles around the lower Lake. Your first stop is the island of Reichenau named a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. Here you will take a boat to Gaienhofen where you can visit the Hermann Hesse House. You then cycle further along the Höri peninsula via Hemmenhofen where Otto Dix used to live. Then you continue to Stein am Rhein. This charming little town presents itself with frescoed houses. The return journey takes you along the Lake Constance bike path along the southern shore of the Swiss Untersee via Steckborn and the small village of Gottlieben to Constance.

In just a few minutes you can reach the Litzelstetten lido and the Flower Island of Mainau on by foot or by bike. The city centre of Konstanz is around 8 kilometres away.
In category A: You will stay overnight in the 4* Hotel Halm, a listed building from the late 19th century. The rooms are furnished classic as well as modern and offer you every comfort to perfectly round off an eventful day on the bike. In the historic Maurischer Saal (Moorish Hall) of the hotel, there is a restaurant specialising in Moorish and international cuisine. The hotel is centrally located: the Konstanz train station is directly across the street, the old town and Lake Constance are just a few minutes' walk away.
