Discover the unique tulip blossom around Amsterdam by bike and boat. Especially the Dutch's favorite flower, the tulip. Cycle through the Zaanse Schans near Zaandam and visit the impressive Grote Kerk in Haarlem. A very special highlight of your trip by bike and boat is without a doubt the Dutch tulip blossom. Visit the Keukenhof, an impressive garden complex that attracts tulip lovers from all over the world every year. Early risers can witness a special spectacle: a visit to the world's largest flower market in Aalsmeer. You cycle the tour on flat cycle paths. If you don't want to cycle, you have the option of reaching your daily destination on two of the three stages by river boat. The entire trip is accompanied by competent and multilingual tour guides.
The picturesque capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam, is the starting point of your journey by bike and boat to the unique Dutch tulip blossoms. After embarkation at 2 p.m. and a welcome from the crew, it's "Cast off! Off to Zaandam!". After a short cruise, you will arrive at your overnight destination of Zaandam. Your ship will drop anchor in the city center. Explore the city on the Zaan on foot or take your first test ride on your (rental) bike.
Start today directly after breakfast on a short cycle tour to the Zaanse Schans open-air museum. After a few kilometers by bike, you will reach this special place where 65 shipyards and over 1000 windmills once stood. Marvel at some of the remaining examples and gain an insight into Dutch life in the 17th and 18th centuries. In the afternoon, you are spoiled for choice: you can cycle the stage to Haarlem or take a 2.5-hour cruise on the deck of your ship. In your overnight stay in Haarlem, it is worth visiting the Grote Markt and the imposing Grote Kerk, which rises 80 meters into the sky. A detour to the Frans Hals Museum is also recommended, as is a tour of the city's canals in a hired boat (not included).
Today you cycle from Haarlem in the direction of Keukenhof. A true paradise for flower lovers and those who want to become one. Around seven million flower bulbs, mainly tulips, are planted in this 32-hectare garden every year. Experience a unique tulip bloom on your trip by bike and boat between March and May, which guarantees a colorful stay. Today's destination is Oude Wetering, just a few kilometers away. The small municipality is located in the Groene Hart - the Green Heart - of the Netherlands.
Get up! The earlier the better. Because today you're going to the world's largest flower auction in Aalsmeer (only open on weekdays). After a bus transfer, you will take part in the Bloemenveiling Aalsmeer at around 06:30 in the morning. Witness how millions of flowers are auctioned off and then sent all over the world. Back on the ship, a late breakfast awaits you as you sail back to Amsterdam. Stroll along the historic canals and visit one of the many famous museums, such as the Rijksmuseum or the Anne Frank House. A visit to the Amsterdam Bloemenmarkt, where flowers, plants and flower bulbs have been traded since 1862, is also worthwhile, as is a flying visit to the Tulip Museum in the Prinsengracht. If you prefer to go on an afternoon bike ride, you can cycle through the beautiful Waterland region north of Amsterdam.
