Show more Show lessYour journey by bike and ship along the Danube Cycle Path begins in the Three Rivers City Passau. Between 16:00 and 17:00, your floating hotel, the MS SE-Manon, will be waiting for you on board. Plan your arrival so that you still have time to visit Passau. The baroque old town of the former bishop's residence with the impressive St. Stephen's Cathedral is definitely worth a visit. In the evening, it's Linen los! in the direction of Engelhartszell.
In Engelhartszell it is worth visiting the Engelszell Abbey - Austria's only Trappist monastery. The collegiate church is one of the most beautiful churches of the late Baroque period. Off on your bike! The route takes you along the Danube Cycle Path through the romantic river landscape of the Danube Loop. Here the river almost seems to flow backwards. You cycle through small picturesque villages, past wooded slopes to Brandstatt. With the ship it goes from the afternoon overnight to Bratislava.
Welcome to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia! On a round trip you will first cycle to Hainburg. The small town is characterized by gates and towers, which would probably have a lot to tell since their construction in the Middle Ages. So are the ruins of the castle above the town. It looks back on a history of more than 1,000 years. Via Devin, also known for its castle ruins, you will return to Bratislava. Enjoy the flair of the lively and colorful city before returning to the ship. At night it will take you to Budapest.
A new day, a new capital! During the night, the MS SE-Manon has covered the distance to Budapest on your journey by bike and ship on the Danube Cycle Path. Early risers can enjoy a great view of the Hungarian metropolis from the sun deck. Take your time to explore the city and its numerous sights. An alternative to sightseeing is a cycling excursion to the enchanting artists' town of Szentendre. At night, your ship departs Budapest and heads to Vác.
After you have taken a look at the cathedral and the triumphal arch - the only one in Hungary - in Vác, you cycle through the hilly landscape of the Danube Bend. Here the Danube squeezes between steep mountain slopes. You reach Visegrád, which welcomes you with its castle visible from afar. With Esztergom you reach not only your stage destination, but also the former capital of Hungary. Particularly outstanding is the sublime cathedral, whose building history began over 1,000 years ago. In the afternoon, you will travel by ship overnight to Vienna.
The rest day in Vienna offers you the opportunity to extensively explore the lively cosmopolitan city with its countless sights. Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna's Old Town with St. Stephen's Cathedral as well as the Hofburg Palace and the Museum Quarter will entice you. Relax with a visit to one of Vienna's famous coffee houses. Fancy some musical entertainment? How about an atmospheric evening at the Vienna Konzerthaus? The MS SE-Manon leaves the Austrian capital behind at night and sails upstream to Dürnstein or Rossatz.
The last stage of your journey by bike and boat on the Danube Cycle Path takes you through the rolling hills of the Wachau region with its characteristic wine terraces. You will cycle past impressive historic monasteries and castles as well as picturesque villages. A highlight along the way is the Melk Abbey, one of the most beautiful Baroque buildings in Austria. In Pöchlarn, you will board the ship again. In the evening, a celebratory farewell dinner is held with the crew as the ship makes its way back to Passau.
