Our biketour for families is designed for those who want to get to know Lake Constance in a relaxed way, don‘t want to cycle too many kilometers and want to experience a different kind of holiday with their little ones. There is also no need to pack your bags every day, as your starting point and overnight accommodation is Constance. From the largest city on Lake Constance, you make a daily excursion to one of our suggested destinations. Start your biketour for families a cycle tour to the island of Mainau, the nationally renowned Flower Island. The next day, take the ferry to Meersburg and get to know the north-eastern shore of the lake. Friedrichshafen invites you to learn more about airship travel, which has close historical ties with the town. Look up from time to time during your biketour for families and you might catch sight of a zeppelin hovering almost silently over the lake. A trip to the charming little town of Überlingen includes a canoe trip and the opportunity to enjoy the mediterranean flair of the garden town on a stroll. If you would like to learn more about the region’s varied history take a trip to the Rosgarten Museum and explore the fascinating past of Constance.
Today's excursion invites you to immerse yourself in a vibrant world of blossoms, palm trees, butterflies, and exotic flora. Renowned as the Flower Island Mainau Island (not included) enchants visitors with its expansive parks and meticulously curated gardens. Whether it's the tulips in spring, the breathtaking rose displays in summer, or the dazzling dahlia exhibition in autumn, there is always something to admire throughout the year. A highlight of the island is the Butterfly House, a captivating sanctuary where you can encounter over 120 species of tropical butterflies and moths up close, offering a truly immersive experience in nature's beauty.
Today you will cross the lake. Take the ferry from Constance-Staad to Meersburg. If you want to get a taste of the Middle Ages, visit Meersburg Castle, the oldest inhabited castle in Germany. You will cycle to Friedrichshafen on the Lake Constance Cycle Path. The local Zeppelin Museum will fascinate you with its impressive collection on the history and technology of airship travel. After climbing the pier tower at the Friedrichshafen harbour entrance and enjoying the view, you will take the catamaran back to Constance.
On the biketour for families from Constance, you will get to know the northwestern part of Lake Constance today. First, you will cycle to Wallhausen. During a canoe trip, you will have the opportunity to experience the lake from a different perspective. The tour continues by boat to Überlingen. Treat yourself to an ice cream sundae or a coffee on the lakeside promenade before hopping back on your bike and heading towards Meersburg. On the way, you can take a break at the Birnau pilgrimage church or the pile dwellings in Unteruhldingen. From Meersburg, the ferry will take you back to Constance.
The day of cycling begins with a trip to Reichenau, the largest island in Lake Constance. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The island acquired great cultural significance in the early Middle Ages. The monastery, founded in 724 by Saint Pirmin, was at the centre of this development. The journey continues by boat to Gaienhofen on the Höri peninsula. Your next destination is Stein am Rhein. Take a stroll through the well-preserved old town with its colourfully painted medieval buildings, before cycling back to Constance along the Upper Rhine.

You will stay in the B&B Hotel, which welcomes you with modern rooms – including triple and family rooms – that have everything you need for a pleasant stay. The 3*- hotel is just a few minutes' walk from the Seerhein riverside, and a longer walk will take you to the old town of Constance and Lake Constance. If you prefer to use public transport, it can be reached in a few minutes. The hotel has a parking garage for a fee.
