Immerse yourself in this wonderful countryside, its many lakes and breath-taking mountains. The cultural highlights are St. Wolfgang and the White Horse - about whom there are many tales and legends - Bad Ischl, shaped by the nobility, Gmunden with its water castle, Orth, and the archaeologically important Hallstatt. The starting point of this star-shaped tour is Bad Goisern. Despite one or two inclines, this cycling holiday in Salzkammergut is also very enjoyable for the less practiced cyclist.

Day 1: Individual arrival in Bad Goisern

Immerse yourself in the idyllic landscape surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery, with snow-capped peaks towering above. Lake Hallstatt, nestled at the foot of the Dachstein Mountains, greets you with its crystal-clear turquoise waters, inviting you to relax and take a refreshing swim. Bad Goisern, renowned far beyond its borders, is famous for the Goiserer Schuh, a high-quality mountain boot. Your rental bikes, if booked, will be ready for you at the hotel, allowing you to explore this stunning region at your leisure.

Day 2: Excursion to Lake Traunsee, approx. 45 km + train ride

Today’s bike tour around Salzburg begins with a relaxed train journey to Gmunden, located by the sparkling Lake Traunsee. While in Gmunden, be sure to visit the impressive Castle Orth and the town hall, known for its ceramic chimes. Cycling along the shimmering shores of Lake Traunsee, you'll pass through the picturesque village of Traunkirchen and see the Lions Monument before reaching Ebensee. Here, you can take the cable railway up to Mount Feuerkogel, where you'll be treated to breathtaking views of Lake Traunsee. Continuing along the Traun River, you’ll reach Bad Ischl, home to the Kaiservilla and Kaiserpark. After exploring this historic town, you'll return to Bad Goisern to complete your day's journey.

Day 3: Excursion to Lake Gosau, approx. 25 – 40 km + transfer

After breakfast, you will take the transfer to Gosau. Take the opportunity to cycle to the shore of Lake Gosausee, where you can enjoy an unforgettable view of the easternmost glacier of the Alps and the majestic Dachstein Mountain. As you ride along the edge of the UNESCO World Heritage site Hallstatt-Dachstein-Salzkammergut, you will follow the Gosau stream towards the beautifully situated Lake Hallstatt. From there, cycling along the Traun River, you will return to Bad Goisern, completing a day filled with stunning natural beauty.

Day 4: Excursion to Lake Wolfgangsee, approx. 55 km

On your bike, you will follow the Traun River to Bad Ischl, the summer residence of the Habsburg imperial family. Continuing along the Ischler Ache River, you will cycle towards St. Wolfgang at Lake Wolfgangsee, where a visit to the renowned hotel Weißes Rössl is a must. For an added experience, take the rack railway up to Schafberg Mountain for panoramic views of the surrounding area. You will then cross the lake on a short ferry ride (not included), before cycling along the shores of Lake Nussensee on the return journey.

Day 5: Excursion to Lake Hallstatt, approx. 35 km

Today's tour takes you to the stunning World Heritage Site of Lake Hallstatt. This idyllic lake, surrounded by picturesque scenery, invites you to explore its shores at your leisure. Many of the area’s highlights and attractions are easily accessible from the lake’s banks. Discover the beautiful countryside, visit the world’s oldest salt mine in Hallstatt, or explore the Dachstein ice caves in Obertraun. You can also enjoy a relaxing boat trip on the lake. With ample time to enjoy all these wonders, you’ll return to Bad Goisern after a day filled with unforgettable experiences.

Day 6: Excursion to Bad Aussee, approx. 35 km + train ride

You will reach Bad Aussee in the Styrian Salzkammergut region by train. From there, embark on an excursion into a peaceful corner of the Totes Gebirge Mountain Range, visiting the serene Lake Grundlsee and the picturesque Lake Toplitzsee – an experience you won't forget. Afterward, cycle through the beautiful Rettenbach Valley to Bad Ischl, where a break at Café Zauner is a must. Be sure to indulge in the famous Zaunerstollen (included). Finally, you’ll return to Bad Goisern by cycling along the scenic Traun River, completing a day full of stunning landscapes and local delights.
