As the vibrant capital of the province of the same name, València is the ideal starting point for a cycling vacation that you will remember for a long time to come. After a detour to the Albufera Nature Park and the slightly hilly hinterland around Mora de Rubielos and the thermal town of Montanejos, you cycle back to the Mediterranean to Castellón de la Plana. Along the Costa del Azahar – the coast of orange blossom – you cycle around València to the picture-book town of Peñíscola. Make sure you take your swimsuit with you! Along the Costa del Azahar, you will find countless sandy beaches and bays that invite you to relax in the sun and take a dip in the cool waters of the Mediterranean.

You will receive your rental bikes in the morning. Let's get going! Your first stage takes you to the Parc Natural de l'Albufera de València nature park. It is named after a lake in its center and has a diverse flora and fauna that can be observed all year round. If you're drawn to the sea along the way, no problem. Between València and the nature park you will find several beaches that are ideal for sun worshippers and water lovers. Back in València, you have another opportunity to explore the city.
Today, you will begin your journey with a transfer (included) to Barracas, where you’ll hop on your bike and head towards the Sierra de Gúdar. Your destination for the day is Mora de Rubielos, a charming town nestled in the heart of this impressive mountain range, which peaks at over 2000 meters. The town is dominated by its imposing 13th-century castle, a striking landmark that offers a glimpse into the region's rich history. Don’t miss a visit to the Gothic-style Church of Santa María, another architectural gem in this picturesque town.
On the third stage of your bike tour around València, you will cycle along scenic winding roads, flanked by lush trees and rolling hills, en route to Montanejos. Along the way, you'll pass the Arenós Reservoir, a striking body of water created in the 1970s. The reservoir flooded the former municipality of Campos de Arenoso, which was submerged to make way for its construction. Your destination, Montanejos, is renowned across Spain for its natural thermal springs, believed to have healing and cleansing properties. Be sure to take a dip and experience the rejuvenating effects for yourself!
Today, you will cycle through the picturesque river valley of the Río Mijares, eventually reaching Onda. Take time to explore this charming town, which boasts a rich history of ceramic production. Afterward, you’ll be transferred (included) to El Grao de Castellón, the port district of Castellón de la Plana. As part of this vibrant port city, El Grao offers plenty to discover. Spend time relaxing on one of the beautiful beaches, and in the evening, indulge in freshly prepared seafood specialties at one of the many excellent local restaurants.
Today, you’ll cycle along scenic coastal roads, with breathtaking views of the Costa del Azahar, or Coast of the Orange Blossom, as you make your way around València to Alcossebre. Be sure to bring your swimsuit, as there will be plenty of opportunities to take a refreshing dip in the sea along the route. Once you reach Alcossebre, explore its beautiful beaches and the picturesque bays, separated by rocky formations, which are perfect for a relaxing day by the water.
The shortest stage of your bike tour around València takes you through the stunning Sierra de Irta Nature Park, leading you to your final destination, Peñíscola. The town's historic old town is perched on a dramatic rock that rises about 65 meters from the sea, resembling the iconic rock in the surf. While in Peñíscola, be sure to visit the impressive castle and explore the expansive sandy beaches to the north of the town. Enjoy your last evening at the Mediterranean coast before you'll have to head home tomorrow.
