Sun, wind, dykes and the flat marshland landscape - all of this already awakens vacation feelings. However, you will experience much more on your cycle tour through Schleswig. The Wadden Sea and St. Peter-Ording with its long sandy beach await you on the North Sea coast. The multifaceted Baltic Sea coast attracts visitors with its steep coasts, wind and water mills and lively towns. In between are wide, flat cycle paths, small villages and venerable manor houses. Follow in the footsteps of the Vikings and seafarers. Haithabu, the trading center from the Viking Age and the large ships on the Kiel Canal are impressive sights. The overnight stops on your cycle tour through Schleswig are mostly small, cozy towns, each with its own charm. Stroll through the picturesque alleyways, marvel at the typical thatched-roof houses and visit typical local restaurants. You must try regional delicacies such as sour roll or Labskaus. Add to this a Pharisäer or Küstennebel and you are ready for the next stage of your cycle tour through Schleswig.

Leaving the North Sea, you cycle along the Eider-Treene-Sorge path to Hollingstedt. Here you will find the largest archaeological monument in Northern Europe from the Viking era. The long arm of the Baltic Sea, as the Schlei is known, accompanies you on today's stage of your cycle tour through Schleswig. There are numerous pretty towns between Schleswig and the transition to the open sea. Take a break in Arnis, the smallest town in Germany, and enjoy the maritime flair. On today's stage of your cycle tour through Schleswig, you have to decide. Are your legs still fit enough? Then cycle along the coast towards Kiel. Shortly before the capital of Schleswig-Holstein, the Kiel Canal flows into the sea. It is one of the busiest waterways in the world. It passes numerous bridges, locks and ships. Alternatively, you can take the shortcut through the inland, crossing forests, fields and moors.
