God dag on the Øresund! Our bike tour along the Øresund connects the coasts of the Danish island of Zealand and the Swedish province of Skåne. Lively harbor towns, breathtaking coastlines, red wooden houses and the typical Danish-Swedish serenity – our bike tour along the Øresund is the perfect way to get to know the country and the people of both countries by bike with almost no climbing. You start our bike tour at the Øresund in Copenhagen, Denmark‘s capital. The cosmopolitan and modern city will delight you with its mix of fascinating sights and maritime flair. On your way along the Øresund coast, get to know the worldfamous Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and the impressive Kronberg Slot in the lively harbor town of Helsingør. By ferry, you cross the narrowest part of the Øresund and reach Sweden in Helsingborg. Along the coast you will discover Landskrona, originally intended as the capital of the Nordic countries, and the island of Ven, made famous by the astronomer Tycho Brahe. Inland, you will get to know the university town of Lund. Lund Cathedral is one of the most important in Scandinavia. The destination of our bike tour along the Øresund is Malmö. Landmarks of the southern Swedish metropolis are the Turning Torso and the Øresund Bridge, which connects Malmö with Copenhagen. Don‘t forget to bring your swimsuit! On the way, many sandy beaches offer refreshing moments and relaxing views of the sea.
Your bike tour along the Øresund begins in Denmark's capital Copenhagen. As one of the oldest capitals in the world, the city impresses with a wealth of things to see and experience. A walk to Amalienborg Castle and the Little Mermaid at the harbor is worthwhile, as is a visit to the nostalgic Tivoli amusement park and one of the many world-class museums. There will be a personal tour information session at your starting hotel in the evening. If you have booked a rental bike, you will also receive it at this time.
Towards the north you start the first stage of your bike tour along the Øresund. A first stop is just beyond the city limits of Copenhagen. The Bellevue Strand with its long jetties is ideal for taking a dip in the crystal clear waters of the Øresund. With a view of the strait and sea breeze in your luggage, you will cycle through the Jægersborg Dyrehave. The game park impresses with its large population of roe deer, old oaks and the hunting lodge Eremitageslottet.
Enjoy the drive along the Øresund coast with magnificent views of the sea. A longer stopover is worthwhile at the Louisiana Museum in Humlebæk. It is considered one of the world's most important museums of modern and contemporary art. Located directly on the Øresund, it presents works by famous international and Danish artists. In Helsingør, visit the impressive Kronborg Slot. It became world famous as the setting for Shakespeare's Hamlet. By ferry you will cross over to Helsingborg, Sweden.
Before you set off on the third stage of your bike tour along the Øresund, take a stroll through Helsingborg. The city has Sweden's second largest harbor. Near the harbor is the square brick tower Kärnan. It dominates the silhouette of the city. From the roof platform of the tower you have a wonderful view over the city and the Øresund. Along the Swedish coast you will cycle to your destination Landskrona. Landmark of the city is the former citadel made of red brick
.
If you have some time left in Landskrona, take a ferry ride to the island of Ven. The famous astronomer Tycho Brahe once conducted research on Ven. A museum is dedicated to him. Leaving Landskrona behind you, follow the cycle path along the coast. Heading inland, you will reach the university town of Lund. Visit the medieval town center and the Dom zu Lund. Sweden's oldest and most important cathedral displays architecture unusual for Scandinavia. The astronomical clock at the entrance portal of the cathedral is striking.
The last stage of your bike tour along Øresund takes you back to the sea. Relax on the white sandy beach of Lomma Beach and enjoy the view of Copenhagen opposite and the Øresund Bridge. In your Malmö destination, the Turning Torso is considered the city's new landmark. The futuristic residential tower is the tallest building in Scandinavia. The nearby old town presents itself to you with historical buildings worth seeing, colorful half-timbered houses, small stores and cozy restaurants.
