Bike Tour from Munich to Salzburg

Day 1: Individual arrival in Munich

In fine weather, enjoy a Bavarian beer in one of the beer gardens or relax on the banks of the Isar in the park Englischer Garten before your bike tour from Munich to Salzburg starts. Stroll across Marienplatz, enjoy the view from the viewing platform of St. Peter's Church and stroll through the park of Nymphenburg Palace. If the weather is not so good, there are first-class alternatives with a lot of museums in the city.

Day 2: Munich - Bad Tölz, approx. 60 km

Your bike tour from Munich to Salzburg starts along the Isar and takes you through old floodplain forests to Wolfratshausen. Here, adventurous cyclists can take a raft trip on the Isar and Loisach rivers. Continue cycling to Bad Tölz, the well-known mud and brine spa with very beautiful parks and green spaces. In Bad Tölz's old town, stroll along Market Street and admire the façades decorated with Lüftlmalerei paintings. If you feel like climbing high, a view of the Isar valley from the Kalvarienberg mountain will reward you for your efforts.

Day 3: Bad Tölz - Schliersee, approx. 35 km

Today's stage runs along the edge of the Alps to Lake Schliersee. Lake Tegernsee is a good place to take a break. A boat tour not only opens up unique views of the surrounding landscape, but is also a welcome change from cycling. Before returning to the cycle path, enjoy the magnificent lake panorama in the small town of Gmund. Your destination for the day also presents itself idyllically as a typical Alpine foreland lake.

Day 4: Schliersee - Bad Feilnbach, approx. 35 km

At first, the trail goes along the shore of Lake Schliersee. It then becomes a little hilly along the way. Bad Feilnbach at the foot of the Wendelstein mountain is a well-known mud spa. Because of the mild climate and the more than 30,000 fruit trees in the area, Bad Feilnbach is also known as Bavarian Meran. If you reach your destination in the early afternoon, you can explore the surroundings of the Wendelstein mountain by bus ring line and take a cable car ride from Bayrischzell, for example.

Day 5: Bad Feilnbach - Chiemsee, approx. 35 / 50 km

The fourth stage of your bike tour from Munich to Salzburg today takes you through the largest Bavarian peat cutting area. After crossing the Inn river, you will reach Neubeuern, once an important shipbuilding town. Everywhere in the village you will find two crossed ship's hooks, the coat of arms of the Inn market. You will reach Lake Chiemsee via Frasdorf. Take a boat trip to two islands, the Herreninsel with its magnificent castle and the Fraueninsel with its monastery, which is still inhabited today.

Day 6: Chiemsee - Inzell, approx. 30 / 45 km

Along the Hochfelln, the Chiemgau's local mountain, you cycle on fairly flat paths to Bad Adelholzen, which is considered one of the oldest spas in Bavaria. Siegsdorf is home to an interesting natural history and mammoth museum. Your bike tour takes you along the Rote Traun river to the former mining town and today's climatic health resort of Inzell. Many town houses in the centre of the village are decorated with the typical southern German Lüftlmalerei, a form of façade painting.

Day 7: Inzell - Salzburg, approx. 50 km

After having cycled along the edge of the mountains so far, you will now be going through narrow valleys. In Schneizlreuth you reach the Saalach river, which takes you to the spa town of Bad Reichenhall. Continue on the Saline path towards Salzburg. The Mozart and Festival City welcomes its guests with the Hohensalzburg Fortress towering over the city, Mirabell Palace, Mozart's birthplace or the DomQuartier.
