Show more Show lessWelcome to your tour by bike and boat in Zeeland! An early arrival in Rotterdam is worthwhile. Take your time to get to know the city leisurely before embarking at 4 p.m. Discover the multifaceted and modern port city during a walk. At 6 p.m. the sails are set. The MS Normandie brings you in the evening to Dordrecht, the oldest city in Holland.
You will start the day in a leisurely manner, as you will first sail to Willemstad. The small fortress town delights with well-restored buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries. After a short sightseeing tour, you will get on your bike for the first time. You will cross the Volkerakdam and cycle past green fields and through tranquil villages until you reach your stage destination Hellevoetsluis.
Do you fancy a refreshing dip in the sea? Then a detour to the wide, fine sandy beach in Rockanje is worthwhile before you set off for today's stage of your journey by bike and boat in Zeeland. Via the Harlingvliet, an inland waterway, you reach the island of Goeree-Overflakkee, which you cycle leisurely. After crossing the Grevelingendam, you have reached your destination for the day, Bruinisse. The fishing village is a popular vacation destination and especially known for shellfish farming.
The small town of Zierikzee, one of the most beautiful monument towns in the Netherlands, is on your way today. Visit the Thick Tower – a remnant of the former cathedral – whose top platform is accessible via 279 steps. The effort is worth it! From the top you have a wonderful view of the town, the countryside and the Zeeland Bridge. Over this it goes on the peninsula Walcheren and almost climb-free in your day's destination Veere.
Today you will get to know the island of Neeltje Jans, which was artificially created during the construction of the Oosterschelde Barrage, on a round trip. Visit the Delta Park and take a closer look at the Oosterschelde Barrage. The structure is nine kilometers long and protects the province of Zeeland from storm surges and high water. Afterwards, you'll cycle leisurely back to Veere not far from the sea.
You can explore the Walcheren peninsula further today on a bike tour. Visit Middelburg, the capital of Zeeland. That Middelburg was once a trading town can still be felt in many corners. Especially worth seeing is the Stadhuis, considered one of the most beautiful Gothic buildings in the Netherlands. From the Langen Jan, the tower of a former abbey, you have a wonderful view of the city. Through the picturesque countryside, you will return to Veere. In the evening your ship leaves the town and reaches Dordrecht at night.
The last stage of your journey by bike and boat in Zeeland lies ahead of you. Relaxed you cycle through numerous meadows and fields. On the way, you will pass the most famous windmills – 19 in number – in the Netherlands in Kinderdijk. They date back to the 18th century. Soon the landscape changes and it becomes urban.
